So I have about 2500 miles on my 2011 MCS. I love it. However, I have been dealing with a phantom noise coming from the windshield area that sounds like wood floors creaking from the front of the dash. It's driving me crazy. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times now to try and figure it out and of course, it's not to be heard. There's no formula, I was thinking maybe it's the cold (for Southern California standards), the time of day, sunlight, anything/everything. It is very indiscriminating.

I've tried to just ignore it. But this morning it sounded like the whole perimeter of the windshield was flexing and was about to come flying off the front of the car. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I made another appointment cause now it is just obnoxious and I really do feel like the windshield is going to split in half or something from all the noise.

Anyone else ever hear/experience this? Is it just cause the car is new?

It is probably the dash. I saw a repair guide (dealer) saying to put in foam shims where it comes near anything that may cause the squeak.

 

i get that sound with my sunroof when the weather drops below 0. Drives me CRAZY!! >_<

 

You will get to the cause. Eventually. MINIs are full of funny sounds if you start listening. Mine was mey-ing like a kitten after pushbutton pressed. When there is little fuel left in the tank you can hear "bowel burbling" it means MINI gets hungry and time to feed her.
