Aftermarket LED Projector Headlights - HID Conversion
Hi All,
I am thinking about purchasing these aftermarket projector headlights with built in LED strips for my '03 R53, and then installing an HID conversion kit.
http://www.handhelditems.com/mini-co...-p-151561.html
From reading other threads, I know there is a similar aftermarket projector setup that will not accept an HID kit because it will be too hot. (I think the other other set has 3 lights built inside, rather than 2 on the one I found).
Does anyone have any experience with the lights posted on my link?

My fear is that it doesn't mention even what bulbs it uses and seems to not have enough information or picture for me to buy them. I was also worried because it sounded like the kit was LED headlights and I was really curious as to how that would work (or not).
So far the best setup is:
Low Beams
35w hid bulbs in a projector housing
( 35w should not overheat the housing but check with the headlight mfg., also projector style housings are not ness. but the do work much better, less glare)
High beams
50/55w halogen (Your basic standard high beam) (55w hid's do get pretty hot, plus don't forget there's a slight delay with the ballast and not with halogens)
Fog's
Standard fogs or 35w hid's (55w will melt the factory fog light housing)
LED's are not bright enough, the may look bright but they do not project light very well.

Thanks for the advice BlwnAway. I think there was some confusion to the title. The aftermarket lights have an LED strip that you can rig up with the day time running lights. The high and low beams use factory size bulbs.
I think this would look pretty cool with an HID conversion for the lowbeams, and the built in LED strips as daytime running lights.

I would check with seller, if possible, if these will accecpt HID conversion.
These look like the projection lights that I have and they will not handle HID.
They are not plug and play.
They do make the front end of car stand out.
