I just ordered an '11 MCS and wondered about switching out the RC antennae for something a bit less obvious. I bought a simple stubby for my '06 MCS which was great(as a matter of fact I snagged it off El Kabong before they took him to be disposed of ).
So my new MCS has the MINI connected with NAV. I'm guessing the antennae is a bit more complicated and probably requires something more than just the old stubby.
Any suggestions as to what I should look at and/or avoid?

I believe that the nav and satellite antennae are elsewhere than the radio antenna. For instance the satellite antenna is actually in the base of the radio antenna.

 

I picked up the MINI sport shorty from my dealer. It's not supposed to attenuate signal at all.

 

on a 2010 MCS. The MINI stubby seems to work just fine and no obvious difference--at least in suburbia--from the former flagpole. Thus, just try your old one for starters. Price is right too!

 

Thanks all, I'm MINIless for a few more weeks and so am spending way too much time thinking about all the things I can put on my new baby. I'm currently in a rental Toyota Corolla and am suffering immensley .
Since I almost never listen to traditional commercial radio I'm not too worried about the signal, just didn't want to mess up the actual system somehow.

Annette, I'm so sorry to hear about El Kabong. I saw another post of yours saying he was totaled. Hope you are okay.

Thanks LG. I still can't believe he's gone and that I'm still really sad about it. We are fine overall, still a bit stiff and bruised but that's so much less than it could have been so we are looking at that side.
My husband is still a bit freaked, especially after we went to the wrecker yard and we saw El Kabong in the daylight. A new MINI should be just the ticket, though .
