Install XM/Sirius in 2007 R56?
Can I add XM/Sirius to a car that didn’t originally have it?
I’m sure I could search and find this, but I’m at work, where I can’t browse NAM for half an hour.
I’m sick of traditional, “terrestrial” radio. Can I retrofit my 2007 R56 with XM/Sirius in any way? What's it take to install it?
Using either OEM or aftermarket parts is OK, I just have no clue if it’s possible. Well, REALISTICALLY possible – anything’s possible in a “money is no object” situation, but that’s not me.
Thanks,

It's a piece of cake. Use the "Aux In" on the stock radio (in the cubby ahead of the gearshift) to hear the XM/Sirius out of the car's speakers. Tie into the factory satellite antenna under the passenger seat. Get switched power off the fuse box using a "tap" type add a fuse. When you get home and have time, search NAM, many "how to's"on this site. You should be able to do this very cost effectively search eBay/internet, many good deals out there.
I run a Sirius Stiletto on a proclip dash mount using the factory antenna. If you want OEM it is very possible. All of the US bound R56 have sat prep. Meaning the antenna and the fiber optic lines are in place. The sat tuner istelf is part 65129192274 There is a pile of misc installation parts that vary based on if your car has DSC or not under the pass seat (where the sat box goes). The tuner module will run about $450 and the misc parts probably $70. If you are handy you could do the install yourself. Then the car will need to be coded with the sat option either at the dealer (they will charge one to six hours depending on how they bill their computer time as the car will most likely need to be completely reprogrammed unless you have had it reprogrammed recently) . You can also do the programming at home (with the proper equipment) or a well equipped shop.
