CountryMan "Birthing" concern

Has anyone else noticed that in the Owners' Lounge, it says that our "babies" are being born at the Oxford plant, "one of the most modern and advanced production plants in all of Europe".

Aren't all CMs manufactured in Austria?

Obviously - but don't you want to chuckle when a website says "With our extremely rigorous quality control standards in place", they have a website that doesn't correctly tell you where your car is to be built?

That makes perfect sense. The quality of MINIs website matches that of their products.

Don't worry. MINI's built in Austria will have rattles too.

No, I love all of my MINI's and am considering a Paceman (or whatever it'll be called when it arrives) depending on how the Countryman performs. I just find it funny that a premium car suffers from these issues almost 10 years after being introduced. I should have put a wink after the post.

The old info on the website includes a picture of a Clubman, not a Countryman!

I've had my mine since Early Jan. I will tell you two things that I learned in the process.
1. Smoke signals out a chimney in Austria would be better info than what you get in the OL, its often up to 5 days behind reality.
2. I have owned Hondas and Minis all of my adult life and I have never had a car that feels and sounds more solidly built than my MCMS.

Glad yours feels and sounds solid. Check out the "Rattle in dashboard" thread for a heads up.

Having the OL say built in Austria for the Countryman would be a coders easy job, but I doubt they will update/change it.

Consider the Countryman is a MINI and the heart of our CMs is British even if all the parts are from all over the world.

As for the quality, it all depends on the luck of the draw. Some will be great and some will be less than stellar.

So far our CM has been good, squeaky rear brakes when it is cold, but happens on Clubbys and some of the other newer MINIs, so no biggie.

So far not to many rattles, but I notice the seats will put up a bit of a harmonic if you get into some REAL bumps.

We love them both.... Just wish I could wash the CM, it has been less than perfect here this weekend.
