I see all these pictures of people with their factory tow hooks in and they are nice and horizontal. I put mine in today due to snow and mine doesn't go like that, it's tight now but it's at a angle. Do I need to tighten it some more with the aid of tools or do yall just run it loose?

 

Better to use a washer if it doesn't end up at the desired angle after a few tugs of a screwdriver to snug it up. Running loose is a good way to lose it, and leave a big road hazard for someone else (or yourself!)

 

Try to rethread it 20 degrees from what you did before.
You can get to a vertical or horiz. position.

 

I think I remember wrapping the threads with plumbers tape so it would tighten up at the horizontal position.
