Need new brake pads

Dont say "the search button is a great tool", i have been looking but most of it is from 4 years ago, and i have a couple different questions.

I recently got a great deal on white team dynamic 15 in wheels, with nice wiiiddee tires , So i want to change out my brake pads to a low dust pad.

I have read Hawk ceramic, and EBC green stuff or red stuff are the best?

I care only if it is performance wise the same or better as OEM. Also, i may be getting new rotors, havnt decided yet.

So my questions,

1. What brake pads would you guys suggest, for low dust, and the same or better performance than OEM>

2. I am cheap so i want a good deal, i found who has some good deals, and good deals on rotor/pads buy.
http://www.eurosportdesign.com/c-34-mini-brakes.aspx

Beside Waymotorworks, who else has some good deals, or other options i could try?

Thanks in advance

Better to look in the 'Tires, Wheels and Brakes' under MINIs in general.
I've got the Hawk ceramics and like them. WAY less dust, though they don't have the initial bite of OEM. Hawk also has the HPS, which is slightly more performance oriented.

I'm changing out my brake pads also this coming weekend, and I'm going with Textar Ceramic Fusion. According to my local parts guy, these are about the same as OEM, but low dust and cheaper than Akebono. They're $45 for front pair.

If you want good and cheap go with the EBCs, they are good pads and the zimmerman rotors are affordable too.

Lots of good vendors out there, I've used these two & have been very happy with the service & products they provide.

I use & like Hawk ceramic pads, low dust & decent bite. Bought them from Aaron at Outmotoring. He also has the rotors if you need them. http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...mic_brake_pads

Chad at Detroit Tuned is another good option.

I've also had good luck with Akebono ceramic pads on my wifes Forester, also low dust.

I used EBC Green on my 02 since they first became available, and have them on the 07. Less dust but not NO dust.

Rotors are rotors IMO if you are looking at plain janes. Your local auto-zone probably has 'em on the shelf and given what they weigh, saving the shipping cost IS significant.

PEP BOYS carries EBC but usually does not have the MINI pads in stock ... but can get them in a day or two. Check their price for the pads and plain rotors over the counter b4 shipping anything. If you want a name rotor BREMBO makes a nice plain jane.

Good point Capt all pads do make dust. It is really a combination of the pads & rotors wearing that produces dust. The Hawk ceramics do make dust, but not as much & it's lighter colored than the coals dust the OEM pads leave.

EBC Green are great all around pads and they are are easy on the rotors. They do dust but nothing like the OEM pads.

So compare EBC to hawk, or another low dust. Which one could u guys say is the best? my primary concern is to try to reduce brake dust

The prices of these im like: http://www.eurosportdesign.com/c-34-mini-brakes.aspx
they claim to be low dust...

But if you guys say EBC and hawk are good, ill try them. But if i could get a cheaper set like the above link or dragonwang said about Textar Ceramic Fusion, anyone have any secret pads that are just as low dust as these $80.00-100.00 pads? I dont mind spending that much its just if i could get the same result from a different cheaper pad i will dance

Can't help you there. I have only used Hawk ceramics. A friend has the EBC greens & likes them, but I have no direct knowledge of how well they work.

Achilless,

Back in the fall I bought a combo kit here: http://www.fastmini.net/combokits.html

The kit included the Hawk HPS pads. Not sure I could say they are better than the OEM performance wise, but they are certainly not worse. Good bite, good stopping power.

On the dust, I have been very pleased. The dust is very light and what dust there is, is a very light color. I can go a couple weeks now and my rims pretty much look clean. When I wash I can tell there is more on there, but for most folks (i.e. the non-OCD), I think looking at them it wouldn't even register that there is any dust present. Not sure how it would look on white rims, but it was a huge improvement over OEM on my stock silver rims.

Sorry, can't say how they compare with the EBC pads, but as you can probably tell from this thread, there are a lot of folks who have been happy and satisfied with them as well. Don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I don't recommend the hawks for street cars. I've had too many customers get them and be unhappy. Plus when I drove those cars they didn't have the bite we wanted. Heck I've got a shelf of Hawks I'd love to clear out, I'll post them in my clearance section someday.

I have the EBC Red's. They do not emit much brake dust, but, they are squeaky starting out each morning.

Clarify? HPS or Ceramics? I'm not a big pad eater, so I don't have much experience.
