Countryman VIN Decoder

I have learned that the first 3 (WMW) relates to BMW manufacturing....What about the rest of the VIN?

Thanks!

Mine is an All4 and matches the last VIN listed, except H instead of L and the last bunch of numbers.

I don't recall which thread, I think On the Ship to USA, has lots of info on how to decode VIN. A search will probably yield what you are looking for.

Apologies on digging up an old thread but the question was the same. I am looking for a ALL4 6-Spd. I understand the VIN sequence and meaning now except the 12th character. All of the models I have looked at are (mainly 2011 and 2012):
WMWZC5C5**WMXXXXX ignoring the production year and check digit. All have serial numbers in the low 10,000s
But one I have found is strange:
WMWZC5C53BWH .... what is the H? All the others have M.
Another strange thing is the serial is 99000+
I am wondering if this was a development model or rebuild or ?
Build date is Jan 2011. Not a JCW or anything special that I can tell.
Appreciate the help.

I like this vin decoder site..

http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

Type in the last 7 digits of the VIN and you get quite a bit of data on the build history, spec etc. Yuo can even get a little report in pdf format to print off and keep with your car history (example attached)..

Thanks for that, great link on being able to confirm options and build date with the vin. I'm not sure the options are all correct (e.g. automatic transmission option on manual car) but nevertheless, great tool.

I found another one with H as 12th letter and 99XXX serial number, built in Nov 2010 and has an automatic. Neither have anything remarkable regarding options. Only thing I can think of is around new year production (end of 2010 and beginning of 2011). Again, usually manual's have M and automatics have L for that 12th letter, with serial numbers in the 10,000's. But these two have H, and different transmissions, and 99XXX serial numbers. Strange.

The one thing i found with this site is when you try to save it as a .pdf after Google Chrome translates it, the saved file reverts back to German.
