Detailer's Domain: Audi Q5 New Car Prep

This was a brand new Audi Q5 - of course black - less than 50 miles.

When I get calls for new car preps....I usually cringe.

12 hours later......

What was done -
Exterior

- Wheels were prepped with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and cleaned up with various brushes
- Tires were spritzed down with Adam's All Purpose Cleaner and washed down
- Wheel wells were cleaned up
- Wash down and rinsed
- Door jambs were cleaned up
- Clayed
- Dried
- Tires dressed
- Masking
- 2 Step Polish
- Inspection with Fenix, 3m Sun Gun, Infratech, and natural sunlight
- Last Step - Menzerna Power Lock
- Rubber and Plastics Treated
- Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed
- Exhaust tips cleaned
- Windows were clayed and sealed

Looks great as always Phil.

But NJ Mini, I have to disagree. Black Audi paint is some of the hardest factory paint out there. Some black paints will mar regardless of how you take care of it like Jet Black and others require more effort, and Audi is typically like the latter. It's just a matter of changing/redefining your maintenance techniques as you shouldn't be instilling swirls in any paint for that matter.

Nice! my dad has a audi q5 that the dealer absolutly ruined. Brand new 3 miles on it and it looked worse then your Q5. I dont know how they managed to screw the paint so bad but they managed to do it. (i take it back mini ruined my paint royaly)

I used auto glym polish and wax and was able to get the paint back to perfect. After my dad bought the Q5 I now tell dealers NOT TO "DETAIL" MY CARS , but somehow the memo didnt get through to mini and they "detailed" it. ohh well, nice spring project once the weather breaks.

Looks great!
