Do I have heat pads in my seats?

Im wondering if I have heated seats and just need to install the wiring? I took some pics. The pic with 3 connectors is the drivers seat and the pic with 4 connectors in the passenger seat. the random wire is some wire that just lays around behind the passenger seat. Can anyone fill me in? its a 2006 MC hardtop

Thanks ahead of time.

yes i meant search the forums. the seats would have sensors built in for multi-stage airbags and seat belt indicator. both of these would explain by there are wires under the seat. the wire that is unplugged, did you unplug it or is that the way you found it. if you found it that way I would assume the car is prewired for heated seats but you most likely don't have the heating elements in the seat and the switch to activate the heated seats, both required. if you think you have heated seats, buy the switch, put it in and turn it on. if you have it then lucky you. if you don't you have a switch with two dead buttons.

Thats right, that wire that is not connected is just there. I didnt disconnect it. I cant find that wire on the drivers seat so I take it that one probably doesnt have it? Ive been looking for a link or something on how to take the seat apart to see if maybe that wire is tucked away somewhere. Have you seen anything like that? Im fairly new here. Got the car as a project car and im in love think im going to keep it.

you can leave them out if you like for the alarm install but not necessary. your 2006 MCS is prewired for the alarm. That was the second easiest mod for me to do. The first was the the autodimming mirror with homelink. That took 3 minutes to install. super easy!

BTW, what are your plans for your project car? aside from heated seats and OEM alarm retrofit.

this looks like you might have the heated pads already since you have the wire underneath:

Really? You think all of the options are already there, just waiting for you to find them and hook them up? Do you have the heated seat switches? No you don't have heated seats waiting like an Easter egg hunt. Pay the money or do without. The extra wire on the passenger seat is for the airbag sensor.

I don't think they are all there. The latter year 1st Gen MINI are prewired for a lot of stuff. From what that thread said, it seems only one style of seat commonly has the heating pad elements already installed. The rest I suppose are like the Golden Ticket from ***** Wonka.

Actually NMgokart I do think it is. My air bags are already connected so why would I have some random wire fall out the back of the seat? And Already made sure all my harness connections where there for the alarm. The siren, tilt sensor, and pressure sensor are all there. If I would have got the car new of the dealers lot I would have got everything I wanted. I got the car for something to work on and keep me busy.

$250 used for the one I found. I dont know if it worth it because I dont use my garage. I have my boat and bikes parked in there. No more room for the Mini. Ok I read that entire post you sent me what I find weird is that only one seat has that wire hanging out of it??? Strange! Its seriously killing me. Im going to go take the seats out right now so I can look for the other one LoL

Let us know what you find. I am curious if I have any spare wires just hanging around under my seats. I'm too tired to go out to the garage to look, plus I need to keep reading for upcoming midterms. gotta stay focused.

Note: If you take your seats out, do NOT turn the car on (even ACC, I think), or you will set off the airbag lights (they expect to see resistance from the airbag at the connector) and you will need to go the dealer (and pay $$) to turn the airbad light off.

Most cars have connectors that don't seem to go anywhere. They are often diagnostic ports. My wild guess is
the plug is to calibrate the weight sensor for the bags.

If one reads thru the retrofit's instructions, the retrofit does not include the pads themselves, and seems to imply that all that is needed, is to install the wiring and the new mirror switch panel on the center console.
