First mods?

Just wondering what everyone's first mod or mods will be. On my '06, one of the first things I did was smoke out the side reflectors(the ones above the wheels). Since DH ordered black wheels, I'm thinking those will be even more annoying. I'm hoping someone comes out with these pretty soon!

Guess it's just a matter of time before everyone starts making Countryman mods!

Pulley would be a good first mod.

Here you go Annette. Jon has tinted tails and reflectors for me and I was one of the first people he did color matched tails for. His work is very reasonably priced and better than any I've ever seen.

See what happens when you don't read the info on the site? What's listed in stock is just that, in stock. Jon doesn't MAKE these. He paints OEM parts. Just because he doesn't have it in stock doesn't mean he can't do it. You just send him your lights or reflectors, he tints them, then sends them back. It takes about a week total if you send him your parts. Less if he already a set on hand.

So don't tell her I said so but I'm not sure why that woman has it in for red reflectors & lights? She claims to have better fashion sense than me but anyone can plainly see that I am much better at matching plaids than her.

Pulley, what exactly does that do, don't tell Annette I asked I "should" know...exactly? Wonder how I could make MINE better/safer at towing? Guessing my first add-on/mod will be a tow bar in the bicycle hitch, maybe a carrying device to go on the Roof Rack Base I ordered with MY MINI. We may all have to see what places like Minifini offer first.

I am thinking about some sort of exterior color enhancement. Being married to an El Kaboong fanatic; I am being pushed hard toward several Blue cartoon themes.

I am thinking more about a color theme to match our dog park, who's colors are midnight blue and a light green, maybe with a wolf head & the moon, parts of our logo. I also have this solid black German Shepherd...I went with the Cosmic Blue partly because of it matching the park theme, which is also a lifestyle theme.

I think there are people who show up at The Dragon who do those exterior make overs....hmmm, my new MINI should get here just before then....

Dark Blue cartoon I'd go Jabberjaw, Blue Falcon,Huckleberry Hound, or, if you want comics, The Blue Beetle.

I can come up with LOTS more.

The smaller pulley spins the supercharger faster, thus creating greater boost and therefore more horsepower. Popular "sizes" are 15%, 17% and 19% reduction. The larger percentage reduction gives a greater boost. Some mechanics do not recommend the higher percentage pulleys.
El Kabong has the 17% .

Nimrandir, which are the DRL on the MINI? We aren't required to run with them in Georgia, so I have no idea which would be on. Would still like to change out to LEDs, though . (on my R53 AND the R60).

Where did you get the shorter antennae? That's a must!

Ok, but I fail to see how a smaller pulley is going to benefit a car with a turbo.

I concur, not sure if it's a possibility, but El Kabong was the last year of the supercharger.

First mod: Winter tires & rims.

Second mod: DIY loadspace cover. I refuse to pay $175 for a piece of plywood covered in black carpet- I can build one myself in an hour.

MINI Dealership has the shorter antenna or Cravenspeed.

I was thinking of doing this too, the only thing I could not figure out is some easy way to keep it open while you are putting stuff in or out. it would be easy because you could use the current one as a template.

I found a great telescoping shovel that wits in the well and would want some other items in there covered

As far as mods, I would consider he Alta Accessport when available

Was there a turbo in '07? We looked at buying a second MINI briefly at one point and it was the first year of the turbo. I thought it was the year after we got El Kabong, but could very well be have been later, it just felt like El Kabong was brand new and we decided to get a few more years out of what we had. Worked out obviously since now the CM will fit in nicely.
Boy that 5+ years flew by!

The last year for the "R53" (supercharged engine was 2006) as the "R56" (turbo) came out in '07

If I understood the heated conversation of an excited red head on the phone with the MINI dealer the other day; the rear "load leveler" is now a configurable part on orders. I think someone added it to my order just the other day during that phone call. I guess I lost any semblance of "control" of this process on the very first day....

$175 does seem steep for a covered piece of plywood. If I understood correctly though, I believe there is some sort of supporting foam or something which fills the gap between the leveler and the lowest part of the seats. Left to my own devices I might cut a piece of black HDPE plastic to fit the entire area, maybe with hinges & some appropriate form of load support. It would be very helpful if the "Load Leveler" could fold up within the boot when not in use. It will be interesting to see if MINI's model offers this feature.

The convertible carried the supercharger motor through 2008. The Body style and motor for the convertible at the same time.

Minor thing on the S, but it does make a difference - - - find a way to get rid of bright silver Mickey and replace him with Dark Silver Mickey. And his two outboard friends, as well. Talked to a MA about this and he thought I was crazy, until I showed him the difference. Black dash, dark silver, and chrome package looks so much better.

Hey Mitch...are you saying the 'flat load floor' can be added again from the factory even though it is not on the online build currently? If so I'll probably call my MA tomorrow! Thanks for any update.
