Any Chance the JCW will have new BMW 2.0 turbo?

With BMW announcing the new 2.0 turbo 4 for North America is there any chance the Countryman JCW will get this engine. For the X1 it will have 245 HP. That would be one hot JCW Countryman.

I've posted something similar here and other MINI forums. I keep hearing MINI is having a problem selling JCW trim on their model lines. I'm not going to get into the different reasons but I sure would love to see a 2.0 in all JCW models, including the 2.0 in all Countrymans. I think that would diffferentiate the JCW trim from the other trim levels in the perfect way. Also, I'm not saying the Countryman needs a 2.0 but I think it will help in the power necessity area.

No, you will not see a 2.0 turbo petrol engine in the JCW CM.

The only 2.0 that will be in the CM is the diesel and you won't be seeing that any time soon in the states.

I'm not saying what is going to happen but what I'd like to see. Since MINI would be losing on every diesel they would sell here, I think petrol is the word for the US. If there are too many people crying about lack of power in the Countryman/Paceman, I could see them upping the 1.6 to a 2.0 from BMW. I really don't see that happening since MINI is supposed to go to 3 cylinder engines in the future so they can get close to the diesel mpg levels.

I agree with you and especially on the last part about the 3 cyl. I think there is plenty of capability with upping the horsepower on the 1.6 which they have increased over last years R56.
Since MINI doesn't have the resources ($) like VW, they won't offer a larger 4 cyl.

They don't need the resources, BMW already has the engine which is just getting ready to be introduced in the US. Certainly the engine will fit in the Countryman and they have already said the Paceman will get a 211 hp 1.6 as their engine but with a 3200 pound all wheel drive it isn't going to be JCW like. The new engines are not coming for 2 years so what do they do for the next 2-3 years, no JCW?
