I know someone has asked this before, but I'm int he market for a full on brake replacement (a la Stop Tech and Brembo). I've done a little research, and everything for the mini seems expensive. Any suggestions?! I have 17" BBS's, on vogtland springs.

What are you trying to get out af a complete brake replacement? There are two main reasons why someone would want to change the stock brakes. Weight reduction or heat dispersion. Well, there are looks, but that question should be left for the exterior mods forum. The stock brakes on the MINI are more than adequate to haul the car down from speed, in fact too good as the MINI is a momentum maintenance car. Let us know and we'll show the love.

This is $375.95, a far cheaper alternative than a big brake kit. I had this before I went insane and did the Stop Tech's. But, as Chris stated above - what are you looking to gain?

 

I think the brakes DO need upgraded on the MCS. I experience a lot of fade on the track, and I think they initial bite (from the coefficient of friction) of the pads I've used is not high enough. So far I've only upgraded to Motul fluid with Ferodo 2500 pads.
The options for BB kits seem to be: Brembo, Stoptech , Alta, AP and Tarox.(have I forgotten any?) Prices all seem to be in the $1600 - 2100 range.

I upgraded the brakes in my A4 Audi with a slick solution: You could use the stock calipers with a rotor from an A8 and a TT brake caliper brake. This made a huge difference on the braking for not a lot of money. It looks like the Tarox rear brake upgrade uses a similar idea, but I've not seen anyone looking at this for the front.

Webb Motorsports has been working on a system but he has been frustrated in trying to find a floating caliper design that will fit under a wheel without a spacer. The Porsche (Brembo) system he tried was interfering with the rotor hat when the pads got thin.

I'm waiting for WebbMS to come to a final conclusion in the next month or so, then make a decision. I wonder if slotted rotors, a better pad and getting more air to the rotors might solve the fade issue. When they're cold the MCS does brake pretty well.
