Dragon DRAGGIN' on Friday!

Yep - we're doing it AGAIN! <cue monster garage announcer voice>

FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY! AT FONTANA RACEWAY PARK!
That crazy gang from PittStop, along with Bubba's Homebaked Nut Rolls, will be going at it ON THE TRACK at Fontana! We're bringing back THREE-WIDE RACING to FONTANA GRAVITY SPEEDWAY! (heck, we're actually bringing the Gravity Speedway TO Fontana!)

Kits will be sent starting about Feb 1 (or as soon as I can get the wooden blocks carved out and sent!), and we DO have a registration limit of 45 for this event - and it's already starting to fill up! There is a Dragon Beauty Contest (prettiest car, as voted by the audience), and the Ultimate Speed Runoffs (as voted by, well, the electronic timing apparatus).

RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED (see website above). If there's enough interest, we may indeed have an "unlimited" class this year, keep your eyes here for details.

WOO-HOO! This is the event Tom and I have been waiting for!!! Our local club was supposed to have a race last Wednesday but the *!#$% snow got in the way...all is not lost, at least we got to make a couple of MINIs as practice for the Draggin this year. I have big plans and the smack talk starts NOW! (hehe, Barry's probably too distracted with registration stuff right now to give good smack talk! I need to come up with more questions to distract him...) Here are our *practice* pinewood MINIs.

This, IMVHO, is one of the most fun event at MOTD! So what is everyone waiting for, sign up today for the fun today.

A big thanks and a yay! for Bubba's. Thanks for sponsoring again.

(psst: I haven't asked Bubba's, but I'm sure I'll at least bring Bubba's Nut Rolls!) www.bubbarolls.com, tell Jon that we sent ya!

We may even throw a few fun twists at the participants this year... so I have to add "The Organizers allow that, like the Dragon, there may be a few diabolical twists and turns thrown at the competitors this year! We will keep it as fair and equitable as humanly possible and, being The Organizers, our decision is final"

It's good to be the king!

Heck yes! Barry even brought the Po-Po to the parade one year - he had lights and a bubble machine on his car!

Now... if you're expecting a disco ball and real bubble machine <cue Lawrence Welk voice>
"Weee're gonna haff to talk about dat, boyce and girlss. You maybe gonna haff ta be happy wit a'da Nut'so Rolls"

Nyah, we OWN a racetrack. Unfortunately, it's made of wood!
(and therefore.... a witch!)

In years past there had been an autocross, but it's costly to put on and insure, and can't be held near Fontana. It's all good, most of the local roads are fantastic, and some are simply glorious.

Ohhh, I do have a tiny disco ball. I wonder if I can incorporate that into the theme without it being too tacky. It is very important that I am just tacky enough...

This is WAY better than a full sized racetrack (says the girl that never races). Mark, you should give Draggin Dragons a try, I would love to see the surely awesome car you would make!

Just heard from Snooter - there are only THREE slots left for registered racers!

We will be adding a different event, however... immediately following DD there will be a "demonstration" event:

Dragon Draggin' Unlimited

SOME Details will be released Sunday. Some will remain secret. Ask questions or offer suggestions if you'd like, but THIS may just be... well... diabolical.

ALL the cars are now cut out, bagged, and being enveloped tomorrow to be shipped to registered racers on Monday! They came out pretty good this year, nice batch of raw material to work with, and this year's wheels look kind of like the old Kosei...

GOOD LUCK ALL!

The cars shipped TODAY! Look for small brown envelopes in the mail later this week. Instructions are NOT included in the envelopes but are available on teh Dragon Draggin' page of teh MOTD website. Contact me with any questions!

Have to say, this batch of kits acme through very nice, good consistent wood quality and the finished car blanks are as close to equal as I (and mother nature's wood) can make them. Everyone has the same kit, a block, 5 axles, and 4 wheels, and everyone can get at the directions... so GOOD LUCK!

Hints:
- You WILL need to add weight and will want to get close to 5 oz in order to make it to the end of the track
- You will likely not win any "beauty contest" prizes without some modification of the bodyshell by sanding, carving, dremeling, etc.
- No matter what you do, even just hammering wheels in and taping quarters on the roof, you WILL have fun!!
