Tint & Clear Bra

I am considering having the XPEL clear bra and a full window tint done on my '11 MCS. I had a local XPEL installer quote both and they suggested SunTek tint film instead of the Llumar I asked for, saying it's comparable in quality/performance. Anybody have experience with this brand of film (it's a ceramic film like Llumar)?

I just had mine tinted. My installer that I used on all three of my VWs only uses 3M films. He has tried others and has had complaints about them. Non about the 3M films.

Mine is 10 or 15 percent.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have Llumar tint on one of our Vettes and it's excellent tint. I love the color and the application was beautifully done. We get compliments on it all the time which is why I was looking to get in on the MINI.

XPEL + Window Tint Installer - Lake Elsinore/Temecula?

Looking for a quality, trustworthy XPEL clear protection and window tint installer to do 3 of my cars with various combinations of clear bra and tint.

Any shops in my area that are highly recommended?

TIA

There are a few places in Richmond VA that do it but I doubt we are in the same area...

I did have my A-pillars on my vette modded to add tweeters last year at a shop in Richmond but it was pretty easy to FedEx those to them in a box. I don't think that'll work with the MINI.

Most top brands have both metallic and ceramic tints. If you look at the Llumar ratings of each, very little difference really.

See my sig for the tint used.

Thanks. I do have competitive comparison charts of the major brands, including Llumar and Sun Tek which show similar offereings in std., metallic and ceramic tints. I agree with your Llumar choice from my own experience. I was wondering if Sun Tek had similar performance/durability.

Bet SunTek is fine - We got the "end of a roll" on the Llumar and the view was fuzzy on the side windaws. Had the installer redo it. So problems can happen with any brand. Look at some cars the installer has done while you decide.

Took my new '11 MINI Cooper S to Invisible Edge last night for the full XPEL and Sun Tek 18% ceramic tint treatment. The owner, Victor, allowed me to stand next to him the entire time he and his tint installer put on my XPEL and Sun Tek films. It was very educational - and entertaining - watching the processes and getting the step-by-step description from Victor and his tint installer - these guys are artists in their own right.

My MINI came out looking awesome! It was definitely worth the time and money going to IE and the experience was a bonus.

I've seen tint applied before. It was the clear bra application that was so fascinating. Definitely takes lots of experience to do that on any type car so consistently and make it look as easy as he did. I asked him what the most difficult car to apply the clear bra to and he said, unequivicably, the Prius.
