JCW Grill Question

So i was gonna buy the JCW grill for my justacooper from outmotoring. I did however find a better deal from a take off of a JCW. Would this fit on my justacooper? If not would i be able to easily adjust it to fit? What would i have to do? If i buy this takeoff it will save a me a decent chunk of change so any advice?

I wouldn't trust a Take-Off, but that's just IMHO...I ordered Molly's JCW Grill from...I think it was Outmotoring...I think, I've ordered so much for her...it's all just a blur!! You can beat $49.95...where and why??

The Cooper S and JCW have a different shape grill than the Cooper. It won't fit without notable modification, unfortunately.

A base Cooper grill and an S grill are different sizes? I've also seen JCW base models with the grills and body kits too.....second generation. Look under the "JCW body kit" post. It shows both.

Take a careful look at pictures of the Cooper and Cooper S and you'll see that there is a difference in the shape of the grill openings. It is probably most noticeable near the bottom corners. Regarding JCW pieces, that difference is why there are separate part numbers for the Cooper and Cooper S/JCW versions.

All this being said, I don't know if the grill shape has been standardized for 2011 now that the Cooper D hood (essentially a Cooper S hood with no scoop) is used on the Cooper. But, either way, the grill shapes for 07-10 are definitely not the same between Cooper and Cooper S.

bottom line, no it will not fit. You could trim up the bottom corners and maybe get a decent bottom fit, but I think there is a slight curvature difference at the top too.

Just get the Outmotoring one.

edit: opposite condition showing some vital differences:

Thanks Mark ... I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I have done a significant amount of searching about the grill situation.

Well, the books are a better investment, so that's the way to go... but when you DO get the grill, feel free to check out my how-to in my sig below.

Yeah, I gotcha

BTW, are you going to MOTD this year? I'd love to see your MINI in person. I was actually hoping that Spice Orange would be like the RS Orange so I could get a 3rd Gen or Coopster in that color, but unfortunately it's not.

I'm 99% sure I'm going... EVERY year I have a track day on that weekend and EVERY year I realize it while I'm at the track.

I'd love to come hang out with ya'll during MOTD.

You should definitely come. I mean, a track day is a good alternative if you can't make it, but MOTD is awesome. Dont wait too long to get accommodations.
