Why not leave the car for it to be fixed? Is the roll bar popped up? This is something you want to have fixed. The dealer will give you a loaner that you can have some fun with, and if it is not a cabrio you can come drive mine.

Were you trying to tip over the MINI when it was sleeping?

Seriously though, go to the dealer and find out why!

Hmmm, it is a safety system... Play that up, you don't feel comfortable driving a car that may have a faulty safety feature. Would they get you in quicker if it were an airbag? Don't back down. Go to another dealer if it is an option. Contact MINI USA.

Ditto!
I hope this isn't some kind of fault of the mechanism.

Frankly if I had roll bars that deployed, I'd leave them up until I could get it repaired. I'd feel nervous that it might be a fire-once mechanism and might not go up again if a rollover actually occurs. I'm thinking that it might deploy using an explosive mechanism like in the seat belt tensioner, which would have to be replaced after firing.

What were the circumstances and what sound did it make?

actually rkw its not as the airbag its just a mechanical thing with sensors actually this happened with my previous car which was a Mercedes CLK convertible which the had a key to lower it but strange the mini doesnt but i used some common sense and made a searc in the rollover bar and found where it can be lowered. I went to the dealer when i lowered it they where like amazed and they told me its the right way but they to check the system and they found out it is ok and what trigerred it was a sewage hole in a road which i hitted hard and the sewage hole was not having a cover lid thats why. thats to all. By tomorrow i will be posting a link of a video where to lower it and how
