new interior : katzkin leather and suede

my stock black leatherette was ripping, so i had it replaced with black leather, with black suede inserts, and silver stitching

Its supposed to tighten up slightly over the next few days and heat cycles, and overall the seats are much more comfortable than they were.
The leather is super soft, and the suede is warmer than the leatherette was in the winter by a lot, plus it grips a lot better in the turns, so im not sliding all over the place.

Tell me what you guys think!

(it was $1305.72 installed+tax for the full interior)

VERY nice! We've used Katzkins in two of my wife's cars over the years and have been extremely happy with it both times.

Looks great! Thinking of having my '11 Clubbie done (once I take delivery).

it was tax and install included, $1305.72. not too bad when leather from the factory in single tone, regular stitching is $1500. Comes with a 3 year warranty on the leather, and lifetime on the stitching.

Yea, the leatherette on my driver's seat is ripping in two places. Just the driver's seat replacement cover from MINI would be around $600 + installation. So, I'm looking at aftermarket full set replacements.

Is there a brand name that goes for yours? Or were they fab'ed locally just for you?

the name of the company is katzkin. You can order their leather from the dealer from dodge, toyota, and several others, just check out their website!

Looks nice! Did you have the LiquicCell added in the covers as well? I'm thinking of using the same but with red stitching. Even though my leatherette is still in nice shape, I want to tackle this myself as a DIY project. I'm sure this direction will be better than sheepskins.

i did not opt for the LiquicCell, although, in hindsight, i wish i had opted to have the lumbar support installed while they were in there...

That is the quality of leather that should have been installed at the factory. Looks amazing. I'm still going to care for my leather as best as I can, but it is good to know that the right shop can make replacements look amazing.

How long did it take them to complete? $1300 seems like a bargain compared to what my mind was thinking.

Don't worry that they're a little loose-fitting. Katzkins are supposed to have a kinda relaxed fit. It adds to the luxury look and feel. They look great! Did you have them installed by a local upholstery shop? Did they have to remove the stock covers? (...Because I know that is the case with the Miatas...)

PS: Which of the three levels did you get? Their website SUCKS!

the three levels are for if you are getting a new car from the dealer, and ask for katzkin leather,
If its not a new interior, or if you dont want any of those, you can go for a custom interior
if you click on the restylers tab in the top right corner (its orange) you can download the mini cooper layout diagram, as well a pdf of all the materials.
(pattern selector for your car, and colors and materials for the swatch .pdf)

A local shop in my town, RogersStereo, is a katzkin dealer, so i took it to them.
And yes they did remove the stock covers.
did i mention they are much more comfortable as well, plus the suede grips tons better than the leatherette did...

oh, and nabeshin, i went to the shop and picked out what i wanted, they ordered the leather, 3 days later it arrived at the shop from California (im in upstate South Carolina), i dropped my car off at 8:30 the next morning, and picked it up at 4:45 the same day

Does the katzkin 'kit' replace the stock covers or does it go over them?

how much was it for just the leather it self without install? i hat 've installed leather seats before and its not very difficult at all. this might be a future mod if the leather itself is cheap enough i know most the other katzkin interiors go for around $700-800.

Very nice interior renovation. I think there may be some Katzkin seats in my MINI's future.

i believe it was 600-700 for just the two tone seat+ contrast stitching.
don't quote me on that though. (my mother has the invoice, it was a very unexpected, and much appreciated Christmas gift)
