first thread . i have a 2004 mini owned for a few months first car bought on my own . 70k miles . i had it for a couple weeks and had a random engine missfire and rough puttering while driving when the light came on . it happens when i was pushing it a little hard with the gas . brought it to the dealer and they couldent find anything wrong did the test cost me 160 bucks . dealer said it was bad gas. picked up next day on the way home it happend again same deal "bad gas " p0300 code random engine missfire by the way . second time i picked it up it was fine for about 2 months then just today it happend again while in s/d " sport drive" had the code read p0300 came up and p0456 code (evap - small leak detected ) cleared code drove fro about an hour or more drove fine like nothing happend . what could it be please help idk what to do ..... and im not loaded with cash to be fixing everything or messing around trying to find out what it could be .

 

This isnt specific to the car, have you checked your wires for cracks, or the ignition coils for cracking? Not sure what part this car uses as I have only had a mini for 3 weeks myself, but other cars with beru as coils seem to have this problem with cracks in the coil pack causing miss fires.

 

You are running 91+ octane as required right?

 

Yes I run 92 or 93 . Wires and coil pack look ok but not theroughly checked
