R50/53 how far with the gas light on??
The exact number is 2.1 gallons of reserve once the indicator light begins to be lit continuously -- per the owners manual as I just checked. The total capacity of the fuel tank is 13.2 gallons, and 2.1 gallons of this is allotted for reserve. So, when your fuel light comes on, you have driven 11.1 gallons with 2.1 left.
You can probably squeak by and make it home to your wallet, but considering that it is a holday, I would try to borrow $3 from a co-worker to make sure you get home without running out of gas.
>>Just wondering how far you can go with the fuel light on? I forgot my wallet today and the fuel light came on in the cooper s about a mile from work. And it's 45 miles home.
Probably won't help you, but I have a Cooper and I've done 75 miles w/the light on (all interstate)
Stay out of the boost and you should be fine on your drive home. At '0' on the 'miles to go' (if you've got the computer), you've still got ~1/2 gallon in the tank.

>>The on-board computer indicates about 40 miles for me. However, most car companies put in a bit of a fudge factor to protect themselves from idiots.
Still a little too close for comfort. Borrowed 10 bucks from a buddy at work. Funny I can't remember ever forgetting my wallet.
