FREE track time!!! Yes, you heard right.

ProAutosportshas invited all Mini and MINI owners to bring out their MiNis to Firebird International Raceway January 30th and 31st. Yep, free track time and also free racing school.

Check out http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/amo/track013004.pdf for all the juicy details.

See you there!!

They try to hook you by giving you free track time. Then if you take that bait and sign up as a member, then you can take the driving school (a $175 value) using the coupon you received when you did the free track time. Now they're really hoping to show you what they're all about and how they run their racing while you're in the driving school. Remember, racing is very addicting.

A few things they forgot to mention in the flyer:

Try to bring a racing helmet. They do have track loaners...but everyone else wore those loaners too...ick!

No open toed shoes/sandals on the track.

Be sure to put about 5 psi more in the tires than you normally would for regular street driving. If you run 33psi, then put 38 psi in, etc.

Good news I am in. If you need a helmet, ProAutoSports sells Simpson helmets, just contact Vicki Pond at the phone number on their web site.

Also, ditch the anitfreeze in radiator and replace with Water Wetter. Consider changing brake fluid if you plan on driving hard.

How nice of ProAutoSports to offer this. Good bunch of people and the more MINI's the better.

I will be there on Saturday, who else plans on going???

I'm going,maybe both days.
I may need new tires after this, before the Vegas trip.
The Falken's are getting worn.

Sounds like a great opportunity for all Mini owners to get some track time.
Not sure if they mean AMO club members only?

Before I posted this information I asked them if it would only be for AMO members. They said NO. This is for all Arizona area MINI/Mini owners.

I doubt if I could stop people coming from LA or LV to have some fun in the desert

>>Lucky bastards.

chrisnl, sounds like it's time to pay your sister in Tempe another visit.

I just want to you all to know to be sure to check out the PDF to fully understand who's invited and why. ProAutosports grows their membership by hosting groups like this. It's good for them and it's good for us. Both parties win.

This is not a free-for-all type of event. It is organized and you must adhere to their rules. This is not an "OPEN" track event. There will be other people there to race in their divisions, so we will be allowed on the track at certain times.

This is great opportunity to allow you to take your Mini or MINI on a race track and see if club racing is something you'd enjoy doing long term. Be forewarned, racing is VERY addicting.

They really would like to see as many people on Friday as possible. That way if you do choose to use the free driving school, you can take that on Saturday AM. Otherwise youd have to wait until their next race to go thru the driving school. Personally, I won't be able to make Friday, but plan to be there Saturday.

Just got this comment from a person coming to the track day. I think its a really good idea!
We are instructed to be there before 8:00am to gain
access to the Infield. I was wondering if you and others want to meet
before 8:00am (around 6:45am) at Krispy Kreme, 5009 S Arizona Mills
Cir. Tempe (South Parking Lot). It's just off I-10 on Baseline and
minutes from Firebird. A caffeine and sugar boost may be just what we
need!

Any planning on taking advantage of the free driving school on Saturday, please call Tom P (see PDF file for his number) to make a reservation so they can be sure to have enough instructors available.

For those of you who will be taking advantage of the free driving school/ orientation please fill in this form (http://www.proautosports.com/2004Entry1.doc) and fax it to them no later than Wednesday afternoon! Remember the Membership is the only thing you have to pay for to get the school. So when filling in the form, mark the membership Fees section and make a note in the Introductory New Member Orientation $175 that you're with the Mini Club. The class starts at 8:00AM sharp on Saturday!! So be there at the track no later than 7:30AM. Remember to re-read the PDF file (http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/amo/track013004.pdf) as it has some key information on what to bring with you and how to set-up your car.

(You do not need to fill in this form for the "free" follow the leader track time. )

Remember to call Tom Ptacek 602-614-8577 with ProAutosports if you have any questions as it's his event not mine. I'm just trying to get this information out there since he did not include this in his original flyer.
