JCW JCW Aero+Driving lights= ouch
JCW Aero+Driving lights= ouch
Im prepping to place my order for a 2011 Mini, and trying to create a WC50 clone-ish car, and I had a question on the JCW Aero + driving lights install.
My MA wants to have the install done at the port, cool, I cant keep the refreshed aero kit that will be removed, ok, the quote on install for the aero package is $3099.50 w/o painted arches, ugh...ok, the install for the driving lights is $1188.00 goo.
I understand the install on the lights involves removing the front aero, which is being done in order to install the JCW aero, it seems like there should be some crossover on labor. Has anyone had this combo installed at the port, and is my MA confused or do $500 driving lights really turn into a $1200 option?
There also seems to be an issue simply ordering the lights for 2011, has anyone been able to add these to a 2011 build?
Thanks

$1188 for driving lights plus installation is a real rip off. I have driving lights that were thrown in on my deal. The window sticker for dealer installed extras listed the driving lights plus install for $800.
$3099 for the aero kit install is also way too much for a port install.

FYI... when I worked for the dealer, my cost on a port-install was almost half of what they are quoting you. Prices might well have gone up in the past two years, but certainly not this much-- they are marking up the price substantially.
The aero kit was about $2000 installed, and the driving lights were about $600 installed. I'd suggest using these numbers as a point of reference and not absolute, since I am not sure how much it has gone up from last year. Either way, I think you have at least $1,000 worth of room to move.

Aero kit, 1850.00. Installed myself...EASY!!
Driving lights, 500.00 installed myself...EASY!!
What a ripoff! I cannot believe they would try to bend you ov...um I mean charge you so much for these installs.
Just buy the parts yourself, invite some friends over, a case of beer and put on the Italian job in the garage. Make it a fun day!!
Seriously, they are both simple installs that have instructions with them. A screw driver, torx wrench and that's about it.
