Supercharged classic...

As you guys will know I’m a classic mini man too. This project has taken 4 months to finish due to work commitments, but now we’re ready to install this engine Saturday.
Pipe work from the carb to the supercharger has been roughened up inside to help stop the air/fuel mix from separating, Inlet manifold from the charger to the cylinder head is made from stainless steel, all welds purged to aid better flow. Compression ratio has been lowered using a forced induction cylinder head, ignition being used is Megajolt, so no need to use the distributor, aiding better mapping. Power hope to achieved? 120-130bhp max – fingers crossed!

That is so amazingly cool. Please post some videos of you driving this Mini, (both in-car, and drive-bys accelerating vigorously).

We'd also love to see dyno numbers, should you ever get it tested...

Car was dyno'd in May, these are old pictures now to be honest. had 90bhp at the wheels aprox 130bhp at the flywheel, on crappy standard fuel. The tuner reconed there is another 10 bhp to be had with better fuel. There isn't any video footage sorry. This car only does 20 mpg, but is great fun!

Awesome. How's the sound? ...as addictive as your R53, right?

Doesn't look like there was a way to add an intercooler to the engine. I bet that would help with the numbers.

It sounds 'ok', but think with a smaller pulley the sound would be better. However with the leave of boost we're running without an intercooler we can't go to a smaller pulley.

Folk here in the UK have put the supercharger in place of the alternator, this way you can run an intercooler and smaller pulley....

Nice setup. I like the clean installation.

What's the purpose of the coolant lines connected to the air intake between the carb and engine intake? I originally thought it was for changing air density but you're using the hot coolant instead of from the cool side of the radiator.

Anyway,

Jeff

Because the pipe between the carb and the supercharger can become very cold i.e icing up the water jacket helps to prevent this...
