When is MINI 1 inspection due ?
Hello folks: My wife's '08 MCSC sidewalk ride was bought brand new in Aug '07. She now has 17K miles on the clock and looks factory fresh to date. WHen is MINI 1 inspection due. Factory warrany expires in Aug 2011 and the service consultant tells me that unless I drive > 12K miles in the next ten months, I will not be eligible for the MINI inspection 1 under factory warranty
. Of note, my last oil change was at 14K miles this past July 2010. Oops sorry did not know that I posted it on the coupe section. I will post it on the cabrio side.

It is done based upon milage loosely....if you burn more gas from agressive driving, it will be due a bit sooner, but the generic defector for gen1 mini is
15,000 miles oilchange....
30,000 miles inspection 1
45,000 oil change
60,000 inspection 2
Repet intervals indefinitely.
Remember, some items, like brake flushes are bi-yearly, and radiator fluid is (I think) every 4 years....
IMO if the car a lower milage car, then do thevinspections sooner....
I also do an oil change every 7500 miles....

The dealer will usually do an inspection with a couple hundread miles of beaing "due" based upon the on board computer...
The dealer does charge LOTS for an inspection....during my first 4 years of ownership, my car was a low miles car...I did manage to get a few extra oil changes, but never got the inspection under the 3 yr/36,000 miles....remember the parts warrenty is 4yrs..45k...so they will fix broken stuff, but the filters are your $$.
I did most of it diy instead ( insp 1 is not too bad) and then had a local shop that did mini work do an full inspection 2, minus the filters 2 years later...I did them before i went.... Still cost me less than the dealer cost for a 1, and i got a full, more indepth 2.
There are a few listings for what are done on each inspection...many items are basic safety checks, a few items are simple lube, and adjustments....not too bad if you have a list to checkoff.

Thanks you buzzsaw. Quick correction. I bought it in Aug '08 (and not '07) and it was one of the very last R52s in the PNW region (certainly the last sidewalk). I did have my oil changed once a year (so twice so far) . Unless I drive >1k/month I don't think I can get in a MINI inspection1 before the service agreement ends. The free service agreement is a joke IMO. I guess I should plan a road trip or two to Big Sur when the weather improves and then get the inspection 1 before next Aug which is when the agreement ends.
