Navigation & Audio Factory Sirius Radio?
Factory Sirius Radio?
I just bought my buddy's Sirius unit out of his 09 MINI an dput it in my 08 MINI, it was cake and the fitment is great. What I forgot to do was to get the radio ID off of the receiver so I could switch my old XM account, which I have paid a year in advance, to the new receiver. When I take it to the dealer to get the ECU flashed for the Sirius, will the radio ID start showing up on my radio, or do I need to pull out the seat again and get it off the actual unit?
Thanks
Thanks
Yes the Sirius ID will show up on the head unit! There is a few buttons you need to press to get it.
Not sure if you can move between Sirius and XM units though in the billing department, they treat themselves as two separate companies still as far as the radios go.
By default the MOST bus ring fiber optic connector you plugged in actually goes back into the trunk where the HD tuner goes into the trunk and will need extra parts to complete the "loop" in order for the Sirius to work. And then above your fuse box the fiber lines need to be reconfigured as well to actually send out to the Sirius tuner.
The Sirius/SDARS tuner option in the radio module can be enabled in NCS Expert as well as the dealer tool ISTA/P via retrofit path (both of which you can do yourself if you have the right equipment).

That is interesting, i was looking at the parts diagram and all the sirius factory kit comes with is a few different screws, a box, a new panel and that is about it. This being said, the dealer told me all they need is 1/2 hour to program it and I did the install correctly. What are al of these extra wires and "loops" you are speaking of? Everything is built right into the box correct?
