Curious how many purchased the MINI extended warranty since it became avaiable?

The dealership says only 2 people have purchased it since it became availble at mini of fairfield. For 2550 for 100000 miles seems reasonable compared to 3rd party warrenties. I dont know what to do i would like to keep car as long as possible. Does it make sense especially knowing u will have problems based on its history. This vaccum pump and turbo concerns me because the car was low on oil until i heard noise, dealership said they checked it and no damage was done. Im convinced iyt ran low on oil for a while without warning me for some reason until yellow engine light came on. What to do??????????????????

I never buy them on anything, from cameras to TV's to the wife's MINI to my $50,000 diesel truck. They seldom pay for themselves, and if the item gives us enough trouble it's gone anyways.........

Tire road hazard I will pay for, and has come in handy only twice in 37 years of driving, so even there I am losing money.

Is this a maintenance or regular warranty? My dealer says Mini doesn't offer an extended regular warranty, but they do offer one through a private company.

Is it from Mini or an aftermarket company?

I am so on the fence about it. I have the NAV so the XXL version is going to be close to $3k!! That just seems insane to me. I do live a ways from the dealer so I do like the roadside assistance. Just strongly considering getting AAA for the roadside part and just paying MINI repairs as they come up. I am at 45k miles now and will hit 100k within 3 years as much as I drive. Surely I would not hit $3k by then....

I'm thinking about getting it but will see once I get closer to the end of my warranty.

Minidrivr, Yes they do

The Mini BMW does have a factory warrenty.

5 years / 100,000 miles

6 years / 100,000 miles

7 years / 70,000 miles

7 years / 100,000 miles

It covers everything """EXCEPT"" the clutch. It does not cover the "CLUTCH"

The "XL" does not cover the radio, CD player, entertainment system, navigation system or any components of these items.

The extra cost "XXL" will cover the above stuff but costs more.

There is a $50.00 deductable per repair visit.

I checked and my dealer cost is $3,300 for the 7 year 100,000 mile "XL" warrenty coverage.

This warrenty takes over when the original warrenty expires so the 7 years are really only for three more years of coverage up to 100,000 miles whichever comes first.

Good info. Might be worth it for me depending on how the first four years of ownership go.

I asked this question on White Roof Radio and they answered it on the last episode: http://www.whiteroofradio.com/woofcast-358. I have not really had any engine issues but some other things have went wrong. I had just about talked myself out of it but now I think I am going to get it. I have 4k to decide for sure!

I bought mine from the dealer (was aftermarket they sold). It was a lifesaver... 63k and a new long-block engine! You can take to other than dealer for repair (mine is 3 hours away) but for the really big stuff probably better to let the dealer do the arm twisting on the insurance company. Mine was for 5 years 100k and I'll probably be there by then...
I've heard they will only repair up to the value of the car but fortunately our little cars hold some value for a while
