Baggy test

Haha if you think your paint is silky smooth to the touch, put your hand in a sandwich bag and try again.

This prompted a $50 run to the auto store for detailing supplies and quite a few hours of labor... =]

Key Point...don't use the Bags with the Alligator on them, they need to be the smooth "Fold-Over" Sandwich Bags. It works great and you will be surprised at what you feel!! (Clay Bar at the Ready!!)

The problem with the baggy test is that it can make your sense of touch TOO sensitive. You can often feel things with the baggy that you cannot even clay. I had one customer who complained that no matter how much he clayed, he could still feel roughness with the baggy test, but not without it.

IMO, paint contamination can be both felt and heard, and when you clay, the scratchy noise goes away when you rub the paint, and so does the friction, all more important factors than if you still feel bumps through the bags and trying to clay to the nth degree.
