Garmin Nuvi Retrofit kit install with Pictures X9002 location

After spending hours looking at various threads all discussing the actual location of the X9002 connector. For the record, I have 2009 Clubman. The install is not that complicated once you locate the connector and sort out the wires. I purchased the retrofit kit from Prestige MINI (201-267-8706, ask for internet sales) on 11/02/10 so this info should be fairly upto date. The kit fits R55, R56, & R57. If you have a different MINI call them , they are very helpful. Take a look at the PDF Guide. I added a few pictures to help.

Update: I decided to use my Nuvi 3760 (same as 3790)

Update: I purchased the new Nuvi 3760 from SAMS Club with lifetime Maps & Traffic cam alerts. Since the voltage is different on newer Garmin Nuvi's , you need to do some slight re-wiring. To keep things simple, I just took out the wiring on the MINI Garmin Nuvi 350/360 Retrofit and use the DC adapter from Nuvi 3760 kit. You can't use the X9002 wiring as the Amps are too low for the newer Nuvi models. The easiest thing to do is to re-wire it to the Cigarette adapter or the fuse box. I choose the Cigarette adapter as it was easy to get to and had good amps. There is also enough room to house the female socket. You could get really creative and make a cable but using this simple method took no time at all.The MINI Retrofit adapter is still best fitting adapter out there. I also have Craven unit but in my opinion, it looks terrible when nothing is connected to it.See pictures to get a better idea.

Looks good, how much adjustability do you have with the garmin on the retro fit kit. It looks like the mounting ball is recessed fairly deep.

So will this retrofit allow the traffic feature to work? From my understanding the original kit comes with the power hardwired, and for traffic feature on Garmin, their FM receiver is built into the power cord that comes with the unit.

The countryman show's the identical pictures for installation of this unit, however that connector is not there. Any ideas?? Also, why did you have to take apart the tach?
