PICS! New 2011 Eclipse Gray - Just Picked it Up!

After a long wait (ordered in September 2010), I finally was able to pick up my 2011 MCS with 8 miles on it - see pictures below. It was worth the wait for sure. For any of you getting something similar or have questions about a 2011, I will be happy to answer if I can. Also, the Mini dealer in Murray Utah was awesome - they pulled alot of strings for me. They won me as a customer and that's a tall order for a "type A" person like me. PM me for the Mini Advisor I worked with and I can tell you more.

I can already tell you that the TitaNM turbo heat shield does 'not' fit the 2011's due to a new valve cover design. I am modifying the shield mounting hardware slightly and I think I can get it to fit anyway.

You will also see in the pictures that the first thing I did was take the Bridgestone run flats off and put a new set of 'siped' Toyo Proxes 4's on it (215/45/17). I can tell you it made a big difference in the ride, grip, and look of the Mini. A local tire dealer gave me a hell of a trade for my run flats - they had 10 miles on them! There are other threads that debate the run flat issue, I just want to add my 2 cents that I agree on the switch - plus the Toyo tread design looks much tougher than the family safety design/look of the Bridgestones (IMHO).

It's in the shop today getting a clear bra installed from a local 3M clear bra dealer/installer. I am also considering window tint, but might wait since Winter is coming on and radiant heat from the sun will be minimal for a few months.

I've seen Eclipse Gray in person too, much darker than the old Dark Silver, and I think it has just a tinge of green in it much like the old Royal Gray. My incoming car will be EG with red roof.

mtbscott, I didn't say it at first because I didn't want to sway the audience, but I totally agree there is some green in the Eclipse color. I have also seen where the sun will catch it just right and I think there may be a slight bit of brown in there too. All in all, I am happier with the color than I thought. My first color choice was Sparkling Silver, but that was discontinued for the 2011's MCS.

I have to ask, even if it shows my ignorance, but where did you get the "EJECT" button (or sticker)?

so sparkly!

She's a beauty! I love the rearview mirror cover . . . I've got the same one. And clear bra is the way to go! I got mine on the hood, headlamps, lower front, and boot. Congrats!

Congrats! It's a real beauty and +1 on getting rid of runflats. I was surprised by the difference even after reading all the comments on here about improved ride quality. Enjoy your new ride!!!

More on the Eject button...

Here is the link to the 'eject' button - started as a 'panic' button thread.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ton-decal.html

I paid $15 for a set of like 6 decals that fit the glove-box button from vinylstyles.com. Received them in two days in Idaho from California.

The other decals that came in the pack was 'panic' - 'coffee' - 'eject' - 'do not push'. For $15 EVERYONE that has seen my new mini says how cool that is. They say 'what happens if I push that button?' - I say, 'just don't do it!' - then laugh my butt off...

Great looking new MINI! I really like the lighter-colored piping on the seats. And yes, the Eject Button bears looking into.

Thanks for posting the photos,

Congrats! Your car looks great. I took delivery of my 2011 Eclipse Grey last week but haven't posted pics yet. Mine's a little more tame on the interior. The color definitely has some olive green in it, but I really like it. Have had several dark grey BMWs and this is a nice difference.

Congrats!

Your car looks very similar to Dark Silver in some of your pictures but the new color looks nothing like Dark Silver in person IMHO. It is much darker and has that hint of green as others have suggested.

I suggest that anyone considering this color should check it out in person before ordering.

Yeah, agree... Depending on the light/angle, it has multiple colors. Is it gray, silver, dark green, brownish? I am not sure I have decided. Overall, I really do like it more than I thought I would thought.

Very nice. The one I saw at the dealer the same color almost looked olive but it obviously looks great in the sun!

Wow I'm lovin' the black and chrome/checkered interior. Also in the sun that color closely resembles royal grey from the previous generation.

Not a great shots, but here's my car at the dealer before delivery. Gives a good sense of color tint in the sunlight. Dark grey in shadow.

looks great mate !

one question though; how do you find the 215s ? are they ok to replace with 205s ?

i might have to use 215 45 17s as winter tyres as there are no 205 45 17s here
