2005 Mini Cooper S convertible buying advice

I am considering buying a 2005 Mini Cooper S convertible with about 79000 miles on it. The owner is a bit out of the town, but the pictures he has sent me look perfect. I believe it is pretty much loaded with 17inch wheels, not sure about the LSD. Can anyone tell me what things to be considered when I go to drive it?
All your opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks..

I'd suggest you start here: the R53 buyer's guide. I'd also recommend you find an independent MINI mechanic for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection), or take the car to a MINI dealer. Don't be alarmed by the common issues that are mentioned in the buyer's guide: not all issues occur w/all cars, and the ones that do aren't necessarily wallet busters.

First gen Ss are great cars. I hope it checks out for you & you can join the family! Good luck!

Check for wear on the top. Sometimes, if it's driven with the top down often enough, small areas can rub and wear through. Many people don't put the top down all that often, though.

Having heated seats is nice if you're getting a cabriolet.

Ask what maintainence the top has had? What products were used. Best is RaggTopp cleaner and protectant as that's what the original fabric manufacturer recommends. 303 is supposed to be good as well.

Ask if anything has been replace on recall or on warranty. Front engine mount and thermostat housing and gasket are two common ones.

And check for wear on the inside liner in the back on either side of the rear seat.

I've got an 06 JCW cabriolet and just love it.
