A New Member Hello
I jst wanted to say hello to the forum. I just joined after purchasing a used 2006 Mini S with extremely low mileage. I have never joined a Forum so I hope I will participate using the proper forums. I do have 2 questions. What are the important difference between 1st and 2nd generation Minis? and How to I turn off the auto climate control? Thanks

Welcome!
You can get a owner's manual from MINIUSA.com, but in the meantime here's a quick link:

Welcome Mrsjingles !
The 1st Gen had diff mfg of engines (Brazil), and body styles bit different. Federal mandates requred a "face lift" of sorts for later models from 07 and on. Except for the convertible which did not change until 09.
I sorta like the auto climate on, never have to fuss with it once the temp is set. It also runs the A/C at the same time removing moisture aiding in defogging and also lubes the A/C seals during winter months when it gets little or no use increasing seal longevity.
Here is a PDF Owners Manual - Page 77 here has info on your climate control.
