i have OE wheels with run-flat Kumho tires right now, but i'm interested in getting new wheels and possibly new tires as well. couple questions:

1) can i put run-flat tires on wheels that don't support run-flats?

2) can i put non-run-flat tires on wheels that support run-flats?

the reason i ask is because i'm considering the Motegi SP10 but i don't know if i can/should put my old Kumho tires on them. i'm leaning toward just getting new non-run-flats to increase performance and save some money, but at the same time i like not having to worry about stopping when i get a flat with run-flats. decisions, decisions!

There are no wheels that don't "support" RF tires. You can mount RF tires on any wheel.

 

will the low pressure monitor still work without run-flats?

 

If you swap the sensors.

Tire Rack has a "Hunter Road Force™ Mounting and Balancing" option when i checkout with my set of wheels and tires. does that mean the tires will be delivered already mounted on the wheels and all i'll have to do is lug them to my car?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i have a 2004 Cooper S, so there are no sensors to deal with, right?

 

That's correct, they come ready to mount.No sensors for an 04, they use the ABS system instead.

 

Good call, just making sure. Some tire places locally can be a bit forgetful.

The road force balancer by Hunter seems to be industry standard for the right way to balance tires.
