ok to mix aftermarket brake pads?

I just ordered 4 replacement zimmermann rotors for my MCS. I currently have a set of EBC greenstuff on the front for about 3 months. I am looking to replace the rear OEM pads along with the new rotors. I was planning to not spend too much for the rears because most of the work is done in the fronts anyway. EBC Greenstuff for the rear is around $75. I am looking for a cheaper alternative. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it ok to run different aftermarket pads on the front and on the rears?

thanks

Might make a difference & might not. I know some auto x's use different compounds to help the car rotate under braking. If it was me I'd spend that small amount & put the same pads on the rear.

Just my .02....

I would go with matching pads, but it won't make a difference.

I run the Carbotec bobcats front and XP8 in the rear, since I am lazy.

But I ran a long time with factory MINI pads on the front and the XP8s in the rear without any negative braking action.

If your putting on new rotors, I would match out the pads to manufacturer.

Why on earth are you running a higher performance pad on the rears and not the fronts?

Track day/autoX drivers will use a higher performance pad up front as the front brakes are under the most use/abuse.

No problem with running different pads front to rear as long as they are not to far apart in composition.

MINI33342: i think you read my post wrong. i'm currently running EBC greenstuff on the front. I was thinking of getting either Mintex or Pagid for the rears.

my MINI is just a daily driver, no track day or AutoX

I remeber the EBC website had a chart...
It said the greens were ok with the OEM/ebc ultimates...but not reccomended with the yellow's or red's if I remember right. Remember, the greenstuff for the rears are a pretty new development...I think they just became avalable about 2-3 years ago...
So oem rears or an upgraded street pad on the fronts should be fine.
That having been said, maybe moderately upgraded should be stated!
I have been running Zimmerman Rotors on the rear for 2 years... They are wearing great...seem to be a good quality product.

I can understand your thought. Since the rear brakes on the MINI R56/R53, etc. do not get used to any great degree, I find leaving the XP8s in place is fine.

Now If I change out rotors (me being lazy), I will probably make the match closer front and rear.

The XP8s are in place for when I do track days and put XP10s or XP12s on the front.

As a data point, even with the all my pad changes, I have not worn out my original MINI R56 rotors.

Going strong at 32K, but I suspect the next track day or two to take care of that.

My thoughts would be EBC front and rear or Bobcats front and rear for street and twisties.

Track I like the way the XP10s/12s modulate, so will probably stay with carbotec.

Ahhhh......I thought that would be the case, but the post wasn't real clear about changing the pads for track days.
