I don't think there's a MINI club in your area. Probably a good time to start one! Here's a current list of clubs: http://www.mc2magazine.com/Club_Contacts.cfm

I have my Mini Cooper Convertible S on it's way and I also live in Rio Rancho. :-) My other Mini friend is just down the road. We both belong to the NM Mini Motoring Group - http://www.nmmini.org/3301.html

I will definitely be up for meeting others in the area as soon as I have her - hope to see you around. (I'll be the white/black top/black interior zooming around!)

Right on. I found that site a little while ago but didn't see much activity so I thought Id post it up here and see who I found. Im glad to see there are a few others here and look forward to meeting anyone willing to show up. When are you expecting your Mini?

Her completion date is 10/28/10 and I'm hoping she will make it about the WW Don Juan on 10/30/10 (not sure how realistic I'm being I guess). Given the transit time to California, the first week of December is my conservative guess when she will arrive at Sandia Mini to be picked up.

And hey, maybe if we start posting on that NM Mini site we'll encourage a bit more participation?

Im all for it. And im not sure how you can handle the wait. I had to wait two weeks for mine to get transferred in from Carmax in Florida. It was the longest two weeks of my life

I'm trying to remain calm by living on the forums (four of them), obsessing on the mini website and driving past Sandia both too and from work looking at the white convertible sitting out front. :-) It will make the day she arrives even sweeter

good luck getting activity out of the NM mini site.... I was hopeful they would be an active club, but have yet to see anything out of them...I think they used to "do lunch", but am unsure if they still bother.... with such little activity I stopped logging in all together. I only periodically log in here these days. I can't wait to see you guys around town. I highly recommend attending Mini's in the Mountains in the summer (august) in CO... the 5280 club in CO is great!

Club activity in New Mexico

We are actually here, but lying low these days. We've been very active in the past and have not gotten much local response to trips or gatherings over the last year or so. Kinda takes the fun out of organizing.
There are several of us in Albuquerque and at least a few in Las Cruces who are die-hard MINI fans. A few of us have been involved in other activities of late keeping us busy elsewhere. We would love to have people propose specific drives or lunches/dinners. It always helps to have others share in the planning fun.
Drop back in!

Well is anyone in the area willing to try for a meet? Pass the word on to other forums and see if we can get a decent turnout?

Mountain drive Sunday January 16

The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend, so how about a drive through the Jemez, lunch at Los Ojos or Laughing Lizard in Jemez Springs, then on through Valle Grande and Los Alamos, Espanola and Santa Fe?

Start time 10:00 a.m. at Sandia MINI in Albuquerque.

Yes the club is still around. Just with the fall off in member attendance it did make it less fun to plan things. So the few that planned/organized events eventually gave up.

LOL, for a while we could have been the New Mexico Mini Eating club as we did "Do lunch" or dinner alternating. But that was more of an effort to get people to meet and plan events.

All that said . . .Let’s get the cars out there motoring again. Nothing is more fun than zipping down the road with 10 other Mini’s!! We seem to be having some warm weather so let’s motor! Nothing beats a Mini, a twisty road, and good friends.

Here’s a great idea . . .drop in on the club forum and post something! Propose an event or ask someone to organize one. There shouldn’t be a need for a few to carry the workload. The FORUM is for the club members. Use it. You may be surprised.

http://nmmini.org/
or if you want to drop right into the forum . . .
http://nmmini.forumotion.net/

I’m good for something this weekend (1/16) or next (1/22 or 23).

I'm going to try and get this string active again. We are trying to launch a drive this Sunday (March 30) with the NM group. Getting no responses from the NM site though. We are meeting at Sandia Mini at 1pm on Sunday, going for a twisty drive and then for a light social event afterwards (a few options have been Owl Cafe, Sonic, etc). I will keep an eye on this post too - I've made a few flyers and have been putting them under the windshield wipers of every Mini I find parked. Pass the word!

Hey everyone! Fellow MINI owner here in Albuquerque. I have a 2011 Laser Blue MINI Cooper S and would also like to get in touch or meet up with other MINI owners in the area. This is my first MINI but I am loving every minute of it. Hope to hear from some other motorers in the area.
