Camber plates or under tower indurators?

Did a lot of reading/searching...

Going to do the front setup right, and the consensus seems to be that the UTI's are good, but add a bit if pos. camber to the front end. So I'm considering the IE fixed camber plates and Craven STD's. Mostly a daily driver, but want to auto-x and enjoy spirited driving from time to time.

Who has this setup, and who might have any other recommendations?

Thanks

Jason

My IE fixed plates are cracked. The rubbery bushings teared after about 45k miles after I replaced my original damaged ones.

This may just be an isolated problem but I think 45k is kinda low.

Adding the undertower things will change/alter you steering geometry from what I have been told...if you want to go on a prevention route other than STD's (which are simple and work for most), IMO just get some camberplates...better handling is the benifit, and they prevent mushrooming...so two benefits, one product.

Zippy, any recc. on the camber plates? I've seen the Dinan ones, the IE ones, and a few others. I might auto-x/track occasionally, but primarily he's my daily driver.

I want the Craven STD's as well, but I don't think they work with any strut tower braces.

I think a massmotoringclub member did std's with IE fixed camber plates... There are a few pics on a thread there if I remember right.....some slight mods were needed to make them both fit.
M7 defenders will fit with their strut brace...they can rub the hood release cable, but can be used together.
The IE camber plates are well liked...I have not heard of many complaints or failures....ask wmw or detroit tuned (Chad) and I'm sure they will have recommendations for you!!

Dinan plates IMO should skipped...don't about them, but they stopped supporting/producing for mini's, so they are an orphan product...If they were super cheap they might be worn a shot...
I have head a few folks talking about Volshag (something close anyway) camber plates.. They seemed to like them....no first hand info though...they cameout about a year ago.

I have IE fixed plates with an M7 strut bar. The MINI now has 1.8 & 1.9 degrees of negative camber. The handling is very nice, tire wear is actually better & not strut tower mushrooming. There is about 53,000 miles on this setup & everything is fine. Go for it you'll like the handling change it makes even on a street driven car.

Once you install these you will need an alignment asap. Negative camber makes a MINI go toe in.

If your using the stock springs the IE fixed plates will work fine, no need to also do the UTI's.

I saw the video, and all of videos for that matter, lol it was actually the first time that I saw a video addressing the mushrooming on video. Thanks for that

But what's better - fixed camber plates or oem strut mounts with the WMW Strut Tower Brace R52 R53 ?

You can use either with our strut brace.
If using stock ride height and springs I would go with the fixed plates as they will give you the extra camber and improve the handling.
