That's terrible!
What a good reminder of how much safer cars like ours are today than just 10 years ago or so. I hope she's OK!

Wait, so the MINI rear-ended the Semi, and it drove off? Why would you hit-and-run if you are the one not at fault?

1. You are driving without a license or the appropriate license for the rig.
2. You have no insurance.

A little over a month ago, I was sideswiped by a semi hauling a bulldozer and other large construction equipment. The truck took the entire side of my car off, and then tried to do a hit and run. Thankfully, the drivers around the area saw what the driver was trying to do and blocked the freeway entrance so she couldn't make her get away. She was definitely at fault 100%. I was just lucky she didn't get away.

I guess, but you take a minor ticket and turn it into something that can send you to jail. And you are then responsible for the damage to your rig, which is most likely a ton more than the cost of the ticket. Even for a truck driver (who's tickets are often 3-5x the fine).

CDL Licenses are not the same as what you have.....much less forgiving in that respect and you have to consider that the ability to drive is their livelyhood....

Additionally, when things like this happen, LE paruses the truckers log book to make sure all entries have been completed from state line to state line, and proper rest times/mileage have been adhered to and logged.....

Let's just say when it involves BFT's, it opens a whole different bag of worms.

Or perhaps a DWI? that would make one drive off!

Yeah, but I guess my point was really, if the company they currently drive for doesn't currently know/care about all these issues. Why would they after ? Another few reasons, overweight load, undeclared hazmat.

Having driven a big Rig, you don't even feel things like a contact from the side.

To get a big Rig to notice you, get in front of it ( just not too close ) and slam on your brakes.

Look for all the tire smoke . . . . . . . . . . . and see if the driver can keep the trailer from going sideways !
