iPod hookup not working with iPhone
iPod hookup not working with iPhone
We just purchased our 05 mini and come to find out the iPod connection will not work with either of our iPhones. We went to the apple store and they claim the connection should work. They were at a loss as to why the iPhone was unable to play music. Does anyone have some info that I have missed?
Are you talking about the aux. Input? It should play fine through that. If you have an actual iPod connector, just so you know, not every accessory is iPhone compatible. One thing to check on your phone is to go into the settings and tap on the iPod icon. Check to make sure your master volume is not locked in the lowest setting.
does it even show and play songs? since yours an '05, the updated ipod/iphone firmware may make it incompatible with the ipod adapter. i'm sure older ipod made prior to '05 will play on the ipod adapter.
My wife had a problem with her iPhone connecting correctly after an iOS 'upgrade'.
Solution we tried and worked: Plug the phone into the car and then reset the iPhone (power and home button together), then hold the lock button until the Apple icon appears, all while it's still plugged into the iPod connector. When it starts back up while it's plugged in, everything should work as advertised.
FYI, there are a LOT of people complaining on the Apple support forum about losing some functionality or all connectivity completely after an iPhone software update. The vast majority of those complaints were from people who had full functionality with iPhones in the iPod interface in all different models and makes of cars and then lost it. This procedure somehow lets the car 're-learn' the device, so hopefully it will work for you. It's a good possibility the previous owner of your MINI had another iPhone connected before you got it, which could also explain the difficulties you're having. I swear iPhones are just prototypes for some new kind of artificial intelligence. Steve Jobs' goal is not to maximize smart phone and music device market share, it's obviously world domination.
Good luck ... hope this helps.
