2009 MCS Clubman Hood Scoop Removal

I have a Chili Red 2009 MCS Clubman. I want to remove the hood scoop and paint it black. When I remove the phillips screw from the underside of the hood it doesn't release the scoop and I can't find any clips that may be holding it. Does anyone have pictures or a description of how to remove the hood scoop. It is totally different from my 2005 MINI.

Once the screw is removed all you have to do is pull on it really really hard and it should pop right out.

NO, NO don't just pull it off...

To Remove the Bonnet Scoop while being careful not to break any tabs.

Remove 1 phillips head screw, squeeze the gray tab that is behind the screw you just removed with a set of needle nose pliers. While squeezing…push up with needle nose pliers just enough to dislodge the gray tab. You should be able to pull gently on the bonnet scoop starting in the middle and working your way to the right and around until it is free from the bonnet. DON’T JERK, pull gently.

Thanks Slimjim, I knew someone had removed their scoop and I ask before jumping in and breaking something. My paint and body guy said he would paint it black for the price of the paint. Can't beat that cause he's an old pro. Been rebuilding Model "T"s & "A"s, forever.

It takes a pretty good pull to get it out. My car was ordered with the crome scoop, but it was backordered and they just handed it to me at one of the services.

I originally tried to remove it and was afraid to break it since it wouldn't release. Got some advice from someone(don't remember who) and they indicated it takes a pretty good pull to release the clips. I sort of worked my way around until all released.

Good luck

I pulled as slowly as I could and I still broke off a tab holder. Super glued it back on and left the honeycomb off. Hopefully the glue doesn't combust.
