Tough Times for MINI Dealers?
Tough Times for MINI Dealers?
I'm very bummed to see nothing happening at any of the area MINI dealerships this Fall. Prestige seemed to have cool events every other weekend last Fall. They aren't even showing the usual Halloween party on their site this year. I was really hoping for another Oktoberfest run up to Hunter Mountain, but that seems cancelled too. Morristown MINI hasn't had an event since they moved into their new building. MINI of Allentown had a grand opening then nothing else added to their website.
I appreciate that those events were expensive for the dealerships. Some of those spreads Prestige put out were awesome. MINI of Allentown followed suit with their own catered party which had to cost them a bundle. Maybe I'm the exception, but I feel that they more than recouped all their costs when I went into the dealerships consumed their food, grabbed their swag and bothered their employees then turned around and bought overpriced "designer' crap for my wife and my MINIs at the same time. And in the interim I have twice traded in relatively new vihicles and bought MINIs as a result of what I saw when they lured me into the dealership.
Perhaps MINI has become a victim of their own success. I am actually seeing too many MINIs on the road now. Each succeeding dealer event seemed to draw bigger and bigger crowds.
Quit sending me those dopey parking stencils (I now have eleven) and resume the rallies and giveaways.

Many of the Dealers laid out for MINI Takes the States and it might have eaten into their fun budget. I'm thinking MoA is still sorting things out. The food spread was almost non-existant at the Grand Opening and MINI USA apologized for that. If only the Dealers could run as smoothly as the PhillyMINI Club. http://www.phillymini.org We have a nice Mountain run coming up, and a Halloween event scheduled. Forget the Dealers and join one of the BEST Clubs in the USA.
Well to tell the truth, I don't always feel comfortable going to a "Dealer Sponsored" event.
If you want to do something get active with a group like PhillyMINI or NEMINI. Or you can start your own thing. I know some MINI Owners who but together events on their own and they have a blast.
Keep a watch here on this forum or one of the others, there are numerous groups having events all the time or if you are going to depend on the dealer, well...

Yeah, but I want some free junk.
I'm a little happier today than when I first let off steam in my initial post: my MINI Adventure Field Kit showed up today. That MIN pen is absolutely awesome. Just gimme a box of them.
