R56 how do i remove the license plate bulbs?

how do i remove the license plate bulbs?
how do i remove the license plate bulbs? i tried to pry the sides with a screwdriver but the lenses snap back in, and it seems flimsy and likely to break if i apply more force.
??????????

It's not easy but if you have some plastic fuse removers it helps. I used some needle nose pliers and was very careful to to not squeeze too hard.

are the lenses just snapped in on both sides?

Yes but I believe the right side of the lens has an indentation to insert a flat-head screwdriver and it'll drop out to the left. Look at it closely with a flashlight...
