alternator pulley removal

Well I DID ask over in "electrical" but to NO avail !! I'm TRYING to get the pulley off of my 05 "S" alternator. I've GOT an excellant grasp on the 22mm nut and a BRUTAL grip on the pulley~~nothin !! Impacts , breaker bars whole shot. I've asked a number of friends as to r/h vs l/h thread and ALL say r/h . the 10mm "bolt" head on the shaft is supposedly just for re-installation . I contacted Denso and their reply was that I was attempting to acquire "proprietary info" NOT available to "us". (thanks) So if one of you people who've been down this road have an answer I'd sure APPRECIATE it !! THanks OBEY

A propane torch to heat up the pully (try not to heat up the shaft) worked great for my SC pully.

pulley

Thanks Mini <<<<>>>> BUT it's NOT the s/c. It's the alternator. A heat GUN would be possible (no open flame) but the nut is too narrow to prevent both the shaft and nut to heat equally (making NO diff).Seems as if ALL the "O.E. " nam mbrs HAVE disappeared. A few years ago this question Would have had 20 answers (all basically correct) and we'd be arguing as to the "brand" of thread sealer for the re-install. SAD. But THANKS for your response Mini !! OBEY

I used to work at a rebuilder when I was in college. Basically you need a big, air powered impact gun. Just hold the pulley firmly with one hand, and the nut will come right off. I never had one that didn't, but again you need a big, strong gun, a little one doesn't have enough torque.

Color me confused: rebuild kits are unavailable (to my knowledge) for the alternator. Getting the pulley off is the least of your worries in this case.

confused & knowledge

Verve<<<>>> These ARE the "key" words in your query. I recieve a hi voltage error code (P0563) at and above 6800 rpm due to reduction pullies; I'm installing an UNDER drive pulley ON the altenator to slow it down OBEY

Yeah, yours is a tough one. I was not able to really find anyone still selling that alternator pulley, let alone some instructions on their website. And I have about a dozen MINI parts sites I frequent for stuff.

Flash <<<>>> Yep~~You're seeing just what I'm up against. I DO have a process figured out to get it off (22mm nut)but I'll ruin the nut. bmw doesn't even "list" the nut & denso WON'T talk to you ; so it's a matter of finding a replacement . WAY had a parts car / cars & that "may" be a possibility but it would be much easier to just reprecate the oem one . I'd buy a used one (alternator) just for the nut IF I knew I COULD get it off~~~~Hey WAY ??? heh heh Thanks Again Flash~~~It'll ALL come out in the wash OBEY
