Drivetrain Just installed the Miltek header and Alta intake on 03 JCW
Do you think your exhaust note is any louder than before the Milltek header?
My guess is that it is minimally louder.
Do you feel any better power at 3500 to 6000 rpm from the header?
My guess is that there is some gain perhaps 4 HP.
Besides the louder supercharger noise from the Alta intake, do you feel much difference.
Since you added the alta intake with the header it might be hard to tell what the effect of the alta intake alone would be.
Any other impressions?
Did you do the install of the Alta intake yourself? Did you install the Alta hose? (The hose is meant for the larger throttlebody upgrade).

The exhaust is a little deeper and now has a burbble when you deaccelerate.

There is more power but more noticable between 4500 and up...

Your right, hard to tell both done together and with the hose...

Yes installed the Alta, may put the firewall plate back in to reduce noise...

What type of cat back exhaust do you have?
Do you have pully?
Are there any special trick to get the header in and out?
Thanks,
Mine's coming in the day before Xmas
pully, intake, powerchip, borla race, milltek header, la de da

Silver,
rb905678 has a MCS with JCW kit and added the Milltek header and alta intake to round out his mods.
>>What type of cat back exhaust do you have?
JCW kit exhaust-
>>Do you have pully?
JCW kit 15% reduction pulley
>>Are there any special trick to get the header in and out?
Not really, Webbmotorsports has the how to do the header install. Two 02 sensors to remove and unbolt the header from the Cat-back exhaust and from the exhaust manifold of the engine. Reuse the gasket and bolt everything back in.

thanks minihune.
There is not a lot left you can do from a performance perspective without going inside the engine and then no warranty....
The car does breath a lot better abd the power seems to come a lttle freer, with less effort, than before....
Perhaps when the warranty is over will add a cam, and see what is happeniing with further reduction pulleys
The next additions will be big brakes and rear sway bar....

Try a throttle body, it made a difference on my JCW. I also did the Milltek/LS header, and I had the Alta, but it was too loud for me and family, so I swapped in a Rogue. Didn't see much loss with that swap, but much quieter, can hear exhaust now. You are correct, the Milltek gives a great burble on overrun, reminds me of my old carb cars. Fun. Midrange really is better too, just ask a S2K I ran 5 times one day

I think for the price of the throttlebody and the limited gains- estimated at about 2 to 5 HP it doesn't seem worth the expense. Maybe as the price drops more it could be something to look at. The stock throttlebody is roughly $160 and the rebored ones are about $399 to $450. I have the rebored 63mm throttlebody and there is some gain from about 3000 rpm up to redline.
For JCW kit owners a possible future option is an ECU upgrade. As prices drop and power gains are in the 12+HP range it might be worth the look.
Rear sway bar is logical as are lighter wheels-that makes a huge difference due to the shedding of about 40 pounds of rotational weight.
Anything going really fast needs to be able to stop fast- hefty big brakes are not a bad option-just don't forget about the rear brakes and brake fluid when you upgrade. Check with Webbmotorsports- in the future there may be some new Webb 16" and 17" big brake kits.
