NAV monitor

Hey folks this is my fist post here since purchasing a certified pre-owned 2006 R50 back in March. I love the car and have already found tons of useful information here. I was wondering if anyone knows a way of setting or programming the factory navigation system’s monitor to be off by default. I only use the NAV on long trips or for places I’ve never been to before and find myself switching it off most of the time. Any information would be warmly welcom!

If you go into the menu, there's an off setting for the screen monitor. I've seen it but never used it. Are you already setting it, but it turns back on next time?

RKW- Yes that will switch it off for the duration but it comes on by default the next time I start the car.

NightFlyR – That’s what I figured but was hoping maybe there is something the dealer can program i.e. having the daytime running lights programmed either on or off at the customers request.

Thanks to the both of you…!

The Nav computer and monitor are connected to fuses F10 and F22. Try pulling one or both of those fuses. Looking at the wiring diagrams, I don't think those fuses power anything else, but you'll have to try to be sure.

Or think outside the box. Fit a vinyl or plastic cover over the screen.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions folks! I’ll probably just keep switching it off as I’ve been doing and mention it to the dealer when I bring her in for service.
