Suspension Front Camber
Front Camber
Do our cars have a Factory camber bolt on the fronts so we can max that out first to get th most neg camber out of our plates? I know other cars have one but not sure about the mini. On the other cars it is down the bottom of the strut. Any help would be good on this
There are two aftermarket options to allow front camber adjustment both types mount to the top of the strut.
1. Fixed camber plates which are stronger than stock and add a fixed amount of camber (about -1.25 deg) to whatever you have stock. These cost about $200.
2. Adjustable camber plates which are stronger than stock and allow you to adjust to whatever amount of negative camber you want (up to about -3 deg). However, adj plates cost about $500.
Either of these two types help eliminate two common problems with Minis. 1. The top of the strut towers mushroom (bend) because the stock sheet metal bends. The camber plates provide better support at the top of the tower.
2. The top rubber bushing tears/cracks. The fixed plates have stonger rubber and the adjustable have metal bearing.
