MINI Cooper
CR/W
Tartan red interior
DSC
3-spoke MFSW
Chrome bumper inserts
Cold weather package
Rain-sensing wipers/auto-dimming mirror
Front fog lights
Rubber floor/boot mats

Note that I live in Oregon (hence the bad weather options).

Any spec's a good one....

Although you might want to consider Xenon headlights and rear foglights as well.

The Xenon headlights will give you much better visibility over the halogens.

As for the rear fogs, their not to improve your visibility but to make it easier for other cars to see you. Darker color MINIs can at times be difficult to pick out at night, especially in low visibility.

Also once you get your MINI, whether you get the rear fogs or not, you will want to do the brake light mod as well. This ties the rear fogs (which are installed whether you activate them or not) into your brake lights making the car more visible when you brake.

Would red be dark enough to be hard to see at night? Most of my other cars have been white, so that wasn't an issue. Also, what is the mod for the brake lights/fog lights? It involves diodes, right?

Welcome to NAM!

I don't think red would be an issue at night at all.

As for the brakelight mod is just a matter of connecting up a jumper so that the rear fog light bulbs come on with the brake lights. That way you have 5 bulbs on instead of 3.

Have you seen a CR/W MC with the red interior? You would think red with red would look good but in the pictures I've seen saw it looks like a bit too much. at least for me. Just something to think about. I think rear fog lights are now a $75 option, might want to consider them. Also, the $150 spoiler looks good to me, might want to check that out.

I wish I had gotten the HK stereo on my CR/W Cooper. The standard stereo isn't as good as the standard stereo in my 98 Lumina.

If you get the fog lights activated, to do the brake light mod you will need a diode for each light.

Even with the fog lights activated, it's a ten to fifteen minute job max that will cost you $2 to $3 to do yourself.

I might add the rear fogs since they would only add $60 or so to the price (going over $20k, the price of my wife's car, would be dangerous). What do you think of the white wheels? Are they hard to keep looking clean?

The brakes on the MINI generate A LOT of brake dust, which makes just about every wheel option on the MINI hard to keep looking clean...

It is true that the brake dust is a problem- if you like get Mintex Redbox brake shoes or EBC green pads front and rear. Both offer less brake dust especially the EBC green (some problems with squeaking though).

Oregoncooper,
Aloha and welcome to NAM.
I think your specs are fine.
If you like audio then consider the Harmon Kardon option but do listen to it first. If stereo is not that important then just stick with the stock audio.

Sports suspension plus is good to have if you don't mind a slightly stiffer suspension- but not too stiff.

The Xenon headlights are a must in my book. The help with your night driving, make the car even better and it help with the resale value. The other option I would consider is the Trip Computer, and here is why ... new for 2004 the programing was changed for the Trip Computer to show ACTUAL miles per hour, this is great as you have the speedo right underneath the Tachometer.

Cheers
