Yes, it is the new Nav. It is new software... and hardware, so upgrade is not possible.

It is a 100% new system from a different manufacturer. Even the screen is different (higher resolution). The actual navigation function becomes an option on top of MINI Connected, which you can read about here: http://www.motoringfile.com/2010/08/...-a-revolution/

You would be better off trading you car in the loss on value would be cheaper than the hardware upgrade.

Regardless of how expensive it may or may not end up being, if anyone totals up a price to go from 2009 Nav to 2011 Nav + Connected, I'd love to hear it.

About a buck and a half for a Garmin 225 on the web. Just stick it over the OEM screen.

Yeah but they want the added feature that 'MINI Connected" offers.

I am also very interested. I'd love to have the whole MINI Çonnected experience. My 2009 Nav looks too old school, yester years technology. But I got the Nav because I wanted access to the car computer. This Mini Connected is the way to go with updates being much easier to implement.

I am anxiously waiting to hear how this turns out. Believe me, I've already contemplated looking at trading it in.

Yeah, my 2009 nav looked like yester years technology from the day I picked it up. But it has better computer access, and is a great improvement over the non-nav dinner plate.

But I'm also in the middle of walking away from my house, so a new car loan isn't going to be in the cards for a while. That's ok, though, I'm otherwise happy with the car I have… I'd just like to explore options to get the cool new toy.
