Mechanic Help - Livingston, NJ
Hi All,
I own a 2006 MC Convertible. I'm out of warranty period and need a good (non-dealer) place to go for regular maintenance as well as repairs. Specifically, I'm told (by the dealership who just did a free inspection of the car while changing the oil for $130) that I need new front center ball joints (L&R) because my tire wobbles freely when it's on a lift. I have noticed some movement recently, but not enough to disturb me while driving. Morristown Mini wants $670 to replace the two -- which based on my research is kind of high for that job. I live in Livingston, NJ and need a place somewhat local (within 20 miles) to get different estimates. I'll also need new front brakes soon, so if the place is good I'll be a pretty quick repeat customer. I've searched the forums and have only seen AutoBahn in Lakewood and Helix in Philly as recommendations, both are a bit far since their hours are only M-F days - since I work M-F 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM, dropping off and picking up can be an issue. Your recommendations are appreciated!
Thanks!
Sarah

I've taken my MINI to Europcar in Morristown. He did my thermostat replacement and power steering fan replacement, as well as installed new injectors and plugs. Ken specializes in BMWs. Fair pricing. Clearly a low-overhead shop. 75 Mendham Rd Morristown 973 267 8080
Thanks!
Thank you all for the great suggestions - I'll be making some phone calls
**I called ECP -- Frank is a great guy - spent almost 10 minutes on the phone giving me an estimate for front breaks AND the ball joint...total cost is less than Mini was quoting me for just the ball joints! I work in Newark, so this place is going to work great for weekday work. THANK YOU inimini2007!
