My friend offered me a set of Porsche Twists for a great price. The only problem…rears are 18x10 et54.

The adaptors I'm looking at put me at et34. Putting me at ~1.25-1.5 inches of poke, which is what I want (correct me if I'm wrong on the poke).

But the inside clearance is what I'm worried about. As well as blowing out bearings every 15 miles.

Can anyone give me any information regarding this? Thanks in advanced.

 

I have seen rubbing problems with 18 x 8.5 with a 40 offset... If you make this set up fit let me know... this would be by far the widest wheel I have ever seen on Mini

 

Unfortunately, I don't have the money to just try it out. I need to make sure it works. I need to pick up adaptors anyway because most of the wheels I like are 5 lug. If I get the chance I'll test fit, but I'm pretty sure they would be WAY too big.

I'll need to get his permission, obviously. These wheels are no joke. RH-wheels sells them for 1000 dollars...

18x8 up front.

Right now I have my eyes on a set of 17" LMs or RSs from VR. RSs will probably be the way I go. VRs are generally in rough shape, and RSs are a little easier to work with because they are 3-pc.

If I could, I would be dropping the money on the Twists. They are the 3-piece deep dish, and 2000+price for 2 lips puts it at ~2500. Thats almost half off if you include shipping

 

ok....but what about inner clearance? I don't think you have enough room on the inside to run that high of an offset on a 10...you're gonna have to poke it even more, which will end up just looking silly...especially on 18's. You'd have to have a 4x4 stance to poke that much on 18's.

 

You're going to need to buy a big brake kit to see underneath those spokes, (can't keep the diminutive MINI stock brakes; they'd look rediculously tiny!)

 

Yeah. I don't remember what the calculator gave me, but it was something that would NOT work with 18's.

This was just a dream. An inch smaller and an inch skinnier would be nice, but I'm not dishing out 4 grand for them. They look sick, but I would still rather have a set of 17" RSs with some fat lips.

 

LMs or RSs look really good on Mini and it seems not may people put those wheels on their car. I have seen quite a few sets of LMs on BMW, especially E9x. I dont think I have seen 17 inch RS on a Mini. Can't go wrong with 3 piece BBS. And you will need a Big brake kit with any of these wheels !

I certainly don't feel that way, but that's just my opinion. The RSs should be the center of attention in that area.

If I were putting on some big open faced "sporty" wheels like some of the schmidts or volks, I would agree, the stock calipers would take away from the wheel, and a BBK would probably be needed to pair well with the wheels. I really don't think it would be necessary.
