Whine at 2200 RPM, not 2100 or even 2300 but right on 2200
Every morning when I start my S up there is a whine right at 2200 RPM. It will whine or chirp, depending on how fast I pass through 2200 until the car is warmed up, then it is gone. It doesn't sound like a belt but almost like a cat crying or something ( and yes, I did check under the hood for Bootsy.......)
Any ideas?
Two more things, I have a rattle in the dash behind one of the vents that no one can find, does anyone else have one? And there is some kind of humming that is periodic that sounds like a pump that is dry or an electric antenna motor or a very small cement mixer. the sound sort of surges, again anyone else?
Thses are tiny things on a really fantastic car. I did the pulley, ECU, and intake about 5000 miles ago and I am just enjoying the beast in this car. It goes and does anything I want it to and it is a blast to drive. One last note, I had the cold start problem just before I did the ECU (Powerchip), about two weeks after the upgradewent in, the problem went away and has not come back. Anecdotal, but interesting.
Thanks for the help,
David

Mine does it. Although I'd call mine more of a whistle. I've got the Pilo intake with the cowl mod. I don't know the exact rpm but it is a very, very narrow band (just like you describe). It didn't do it until after I put the intake on so I've never worried about it.

woah man - you're listening to your car a bit too closely, perhaps. There are tons of motors and mechanisms flying around, my guess is you're hearing a resonance somewhere. Remember, the MCS is an English car that has a supercharger, intercooler, no-EGR, returnless fuel system, and drive-by-wire - this all means high-tech stuff with, um, fatalist build quality. If you know British cars at all, just be happy it's running at all

These 2 noises are only noticable when I am sitting in the car while it is warming up.
Unlike the squeaks, rattles, whine of the power steering and the sweet music of the blower I hear once underway.
