Hi all,

My sister is looking at a 2004 Mini in Vancouver and has asked me to do a little research before signing papers. I want to make sure that this car would be a good choice for a University student. It must be reliable with little maintenance required as my sister is 10+ hours away from family who could help her fix the car.

I have just read this review on Minis and see that there are quite a few problems with earlier models(2004) that seem to have been rectified with later years.

What year Minis should we be looking at to minimize problems down the road? She is in love with the Mini and I want to make sure her Mini is good to her.

2006 was my choice based on reliability and aesthetic (I prefer the R50/53).

I got a lot of information from MotoringFile.com 's buyer's guide prior to making my decision.

I'm sure you'll be fine with whatever you find, but (as you know) have it looked at by your nearest MINI dealer.

And, if MINI Canada offered extended warranties, try to find a MINI with one of MINI's extended warranties or free maintenance programs.

 

Yes 2006 is a good year, but definitely look for one with low, low mileage. I would want no more than 30,000 showing and new rubber all around.
